COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS – 4 Weeks to Go
I can’t believe it is less than a month to Christmas! I hope you have been following my plan and are well on your way to being sorted.
Letter to Santa: If you haven’t already written your letter, why not get out some nice paper and a pen tonight and send him off a lovely note, letting him know what you would like for Christmas, and don’t forget to say Thank You!
Presents: Hopefully you are getting sorted with this list and have lots of items ticked off. Try and get a few each week, so we aren’t in a panic by the time Christmas Week comes. And why not consider wrapping each present and labelling it as we get it? Save on the mad rush near the end.
Declutter: Before we get too close to Christmas, it is a good idea to have a look around and try to declutter your living areas. Once the tree and decorations go up, this will be harder to do. Make a list of jobs to do – and everyone needs to help out!! Spread the chores around the whole family.
Christmas Tree: So, is your tree up yet? Maybe you are well underway in getting your decorations up. If you are starting now, don’t try to do it all in one go. That is too stressful. Maybe do the tree one day and then put other decorations up around the house on another day. And if you want to do outside, give yourself some daylight hours to do that. It is important that you have fun doing this work, and that you don’t get too stressed to enjoy the end product. And play Christmas music as you go!!
Overseas parcels and letters: Now is a good time to start writing our Christmas Cards, particularly those going overseas. Maybe write a few each day, spread the work. But do send cards, particularly this year, keep in touch by post.
We should definitely be posting any parcels now, and the last dates for posting cards & letters to the USA and Rest of the World is 7th December. So just to be safe, get those ones written and posted now. If you would like to buy some Lakers Christmas Cards, you can get them in our Reception. And don’t forget to buy your Christmas Stamps too.
Cooking & Baking Preparation: This is a good week to make your Christmas Cake. You can check out our video on how to make one here https://youtu.be/AkNUO5s6Nwg – it is a nice light cake ready to decorate in time for Christmas. We can do the decorating in December.
It is also a good idea to use the coming weeks to check what is in the fridge and freezer and try and use up as much as we can, ready to put in some fresh purchases we might be making for over the Christmas period. We can also batch bake items in the coming week or two and pop them in the freezer.
And remember, you’ve got this! Christmas is about enjoying some family time, whether or not we can include extended family or not, this year is special too.
